Prepare and manage hymn playlists

Search hymns, import TXT files, organize and lock items, and save complete playlists as ZIPs.

Add content from the local or cloud hymn library, or import your own TXT files. After ordering songs and adjusting pages and display settings, export a playlist ZIP to reuse it at another service or on another device.

Add songs from the local library

Press / or Tab in the hymn console and search by title or author. Select a result to preview it, adjust the playlist name if needed, then click “Add to playlist.” When cloud hymns are enabled, switch between local and cloud results in the same search panel.

Common keys:

  • / or Tab: open or close search;
  • ↑ / ↓: select a result;
  • Enter: open the selected result;
  • Ctrl+Enter: save or add to the playlist.

Distinguish songs with identical titles by author, language, and preview. To edit a song after adding it, right-click it in the playlist and choose “Edit hymn.”

Import UTF-8 TXT hymns

Use one .txt file per hymn. Its filename becomes the song title, and the file contains one lyric line per line:

This is the first lyric line
This is the second lyric line
This is the third lyric line
This is the fourth lyric line

Click “Import playlist” or press Shift+I to select multiple TXT files. Songs append to the current playlist. For duplicate names, skip, rename, or replace each item, or apply the same choice to the remaining items. TXT files must use UTF-8.

Do not mix TXT files and a playlist ZIP in one selection. Import one playlist ZIP at a time.

Control pages with hymn markup

Markers use standard ASCII characters and must occupy their own lines. Markup is optional for ordinary hymns; the current row setting supplies automatic page breaks.

Keep content on one card

Wrap one to five lines in [[ and ]] to keep them on the same card regardless of the default row count:

[[
First line
Second line
Third line
]]

Mark a chorus

Wrap a chorus in [* and *]. Use the Chorus button or ↑ / ↓ to jump between marked sections:

[*
Hallelujah, hallelujah
Together we sing praise
*]

Show a repeat count

Use pairs from [2 / 2] through [9 / 9] to show how many times to sing a section. This displays a repeat count without duplicating lyrics:

[2
I will praise You all my life
2]

Duplicate the content

Pairs from [+2 / +2] through [+9 / +9] actually repeat the enclosed content two to nine times:

[+2
Amen, amen
+2]

If import reports a marker error, check matching opening and closing markers, separate lines, and accidental full-width brackets or symbols.

Organize the live playlist

In the left playlist:

  • drag an item's handle to change its order;
  • click a title to select and display it;
  • double-click a hymn, sermon, or gallery to edit it;
  • click the lock to protect a confirmed item;
  • press Delete or Backspace to remove unlocked items;
  • hold Alt while hovering to reveal the delete button temporarily;
  • right-click to insert a separator, rename, edit, lock, export, or delete.

Lock important content before the service. Delete, lock, and add-to-rundown actions apply to all selected items; locked items are not removed or replaced in a batch. Use Ctrl+Z to undo mistakes.

Export and restore a complete playlist

Click “Export playlist” or press Shift+O to download a ZIP named after the current playlist. It includes hymns, sermons, galleries, and images, preserving each item's page, font-size, and display settings.

Import loads by playlist name: it merges into a matching playlist or creates a new one. Skip, rename, or replace duplicate items; locked items are retained.

The local playlist library saves automatically and restores multiple playlists at the next start. To move one playlist, use Export Playlist ZIP. To move all settings, favorites, rundowns, and playlists, export a Local Backup in settings.

Use a service date in the filename, for example:

2026-08-09-Sunday-Worship-Playlist.zip

This preserves each service's order and lets you reuse tuned page and display settings.

Suggested preparation workflow

  1. Add songs from the local library or import TXT files in a batch.
  2. Drag songs into service order.
  3. Check markers, choruses, and rows per page.
  4. Set font size and page or scrolling mode for each song.
  5. Lock confirmed songs.
  6. Export and safely store the playlist ZIP.
  7. Rehearse the full playlist in the display or OBS before the service.
